AI can never replace critical thinking-pattern recognition & creativity

I fully agree that being willing and able to say to another person: 'I know how you feel' is a powerful expression of our uniqueness as human beings. This makes me wonder if we are equally willing and able to say the same thing to ourselves. Admitting truthfully that 'I know how I feel' is a powerful declaration of independence. From there, we can better reach out to others to build a compassionate community.

This is so true. I think to get through what is coming, we’re going to need to get to know ourselves a lot better.

Thank you for this clarity of thought, David. Your postcard makes me think: yes, humans have a unique way of seeing, and of being with one another. But it also leaves me wondering: what value do humans bring to the wider biosphere? Does Earth need humans at all — especially given how we’ve been acting, and how we’ve treated the place so far?

Thanks so much Nathan. I think it's true that the Earth doesn't need us; rather, we need the Earth. I hope we all wake up to that soon.

your postcard is far from encouraging. I guess the only thing that make us irreplaceable is our capacity to spend, so machines and their owners can keep having a motif of existence. it´s the balance in how many people are we willing to spit out of the system before it becomes economically unviable that ´s something we should ask AI (aside of rent a human)
