Congratulations David. I've followed you here and via the Exponentialist, when available to access. Delighted your thoughts will get the space to be comprehensively explored. Moreover, your story is yet another that inspires me - when you follow your passion - your post-journalism life - one is rewarded for the stance to pursue that which calls to us long before we may even realise why.
Thanks so much Lidia! Yes my working life changed a lot during the pandemic, and I've certainly seen since then how if you follow your interests — which in my case means writing a lot — then wonderful things can happen.
Congrats! You shaped my thinking about this complex topic before GPT-3 even was launched. Tough challenge though, to write a book about „a moving target“ these days.
Oh I'm so glad! Because being human matters. It's always mattered. I feel like I'll do a post too on your talk in the next while. I'm so glad we've crossed paths.
Congratulations! We’ll be writing in parallel, albeit on different subjects. My new book, The Geography of Prosperity, will be published by MIT Press in 2027.
Wonderful, I am looking forward to your book and everything you will share beforehand. In my view the Robot is the new Dragon: a symbol of something that threatens our humanity and which we think we must fight outside of us, but which is really an inner danger. AI demands a moral or even spiritual battle against our own egoism and greed. As long as it is used for profit it will wreak havoc on people (just like we have already wrought havoc on nature with our technology). But if we stand up to the challenge it can be a huge blessing. In mythological films like Terminator II and The Matrix the hero wins from the robot by self-sacrifice. That is what is needed, I guess. I hope these iconic movies foretell humanity's ultimate victory over our own greed.

Wow! Congrats, this is a great news, I look forward to read Creature v Machine. 😍
Thanks Cristiam! Lots of writing to do in 2026, and the book will be published in 2027.

Thanks Sandra! That is so true; this story will evolve as I'm writing about it, which should make for a fun challenge...
I've just finished watching your Do Lecture. Bloody brilliant. The book will be massive.
Congratulations.
Thanks very much Julie! Glad that talk resonated with you; I'm going to write something about it here soon.

Thanks Bradley, and congrats on your book too! Look forward to it.
